Privacy policy
Summary
We collect only what we need to connect you with a garage door technician and to understand how the site is used. We share your request with the garage door business we refer you to, and we don't sell lists of contact details to marketers.
What we collect
When you send a request: your first name, phone number, the type of help you need, an optional ZIP code and an optional description of the problem. We also record which page you started on and how you arrived (for example, a search engine or a link), plus the date and time.
When you call: if call tracking is active, our provider records the date, time, duration and the page you called from. We keep only the last four digits of the caller's number in our own records. If calls are recorded, you'll hear an announcement first.
When you browse: our own analytics records the pages you view, which buttons you tap (such as Call or Request a technician), the site you came from, your device type, and an approximate location (city and state) worked out from your internet address at the time of the visit. We don't store your internet address. A random identifier kept in your browser's storage lets us count returning visitors; it isn't linked to your name or phone number. If Google Analytics is enabled, Google may also collect similar usage information through cookies.
We don't ask for your address, email, payment details or date of birth, and please don't include sensitive personal information in the description box.
How we use it

- To follow up on a referral and check whether it was handled
- To account for referrals with the businesses we work with
- To improve the site and understand which guides are useful
- To prevent spam and abuse
Who we share it with
- The garage door business we refer you to. They receive your request details so they can contact you about the job. That business may pay us for the referral. Once they have your details, their own privacy practices apply.
- Service providers that run the site for us, such as hosting, call tracking and analytics, only as needed to provide their services.
- Authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep request and call records for up to 24 months so we can account for referrals and handle questions, then delete or anonymize them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by using our contact page. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which won't stop the site working.
Children
This site is intended for adults responsible for a property. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
