How our garage door referrals work

The short version

Collin County Garage Door Guide is a referral service. We don't employ technicians and we don't carry out garage door work. When you call or send a request, we connect you with an independent garage door business that serves your city. That business talks to you directly, quotes the job, and does the work if you decide to go ahead.

Step by step

1. You tell us what's wrong. Call us or use the request form. A few details help: what the door is doing, whether you heard a bang, whether a car is stuck inside, and which city you're in.
2. We connect you with a local technician. We pass your request to an independent garage door business that handles that kind of job in your area. We don't sell the same request to a long list of companies.
3. The technician contacts you, or takes your call. They'll confirm when they can come out and how they charge. Scheduling and pricing are set by the garage door business, not by us.
4. You decide. You're free to ask questions, get a written quote, compare it with other quotes, or say no. You never owe us anything.

What it costs

Using this site and asking for a referral is free for you. Garage door businesses may pay us a fee for referrals. That's how the site, including the free guides, is funded. It doesn't change what you should expect: a clear written price before work starts and the right to decline. See our referral disclosure for the details.

What we do, and what we don't

We do:

• Publish practical guides to help you understand a garage door problem before anyone arrives
• Connect you with an independent garage door technician for your type of job and location
• Keep the information you share to what's needed to make that connection (see our privacy policy)

We don't:

• Install, repair or service garage doors or openers, or send out our own technicians
• Set prices, guarantee availability or promise response times
• Take payment for garage door work
• Represent any city, county or manufacturer

Checking the technician yourself

Texas doesn't issue a state license for garage door work, so there's no license number to look up. Before work starts, confirm the business's real name and address, ask whether it carries liability insurance, and get the total price in writing. If there's an emergency

If a door has fallen, is hanging crooked or is stuck part way, keep everyone clear of it and don't touch the springs or cables. If anyone is hurt or trapped, call 911. Our emergency guide covers what to do next. We're a referral service, not an emergency service.
